Reta Rene King of Garrison, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, in Garrison, Texas. She was born on April 2, 1937, in Leakey, Texas to the late Almarine Gossett Dulaney and Alva Reta (Boren) Dulaney. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Reta was raised in Leakey, Texas. She graduated high school and married the love of her life, Joseph Edward King. The two were married on July 16, 1959, and spent over 50 years together before his passing in March 2013. She and Joe Ed had three sons whom they loved dearly. They moved to Garrison in 1970 and made their home here in East Texas. Reta spent many years in the banking profession as a bank teller. She retired from BankCorp South in Garrison. Reta loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love for the historical background of Wiley Hotel gave her passion through the years to preserve what is there. She was a member of Eastern Star. Reta loved the Lord and served him in many ways as a member of First Baptist Church, Garrison. She enjoyed singing in the choir.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory Scott King and wife Michelle, John Dulaney King; grandchildren, Jonathon Scott King and wife Lacie, Michael Alexander King and wife Brielle, Amy Leanne Mosley and husband Jacob, Brittany Nicole King, Brandon Jeffrey King and wife Casey; great grandchildren, Ryan Austin King, Rebekah Avery King, Knox Alexander Mosley, Maren Kaylee Mosley, Adelyn Ann King; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Reta is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Edward King; son, Joseph Reagan King; parents, Almarine and Alva Reta Dulaney; and brother, Al “Sonny” Dulaney.
