Gina Mandell

Regina Carol Mandell died January 15, 2022. She was born in 1971 in Pasadena, Texas to parents Cynthia Parker and Jess Hubbard. She grew up in Jacinto City, Texas with her brother Steven, cousin Shirley, Aunt Carol, grandfather Wayne Maitland and her beloved grandmother Avis Helpenstell Maitland, affectionately known as Ma’am. Growing up she enjoyed time spent in the country at family land near Nacogdoches, long road trips with Ma’am & family, and summers with Kimberly Duke in Point Blank, Texas. She lived in Houston, Texas and worked as a server for many years at fine dining restaurants like the Old San Francisco Steakhouse and The Rainbow Lodge. She studied art at Houston Community College and Criminal Justice at the University of Houston-Downtown. She worked at TSA for many years and recently as a life coach assisting mentally & physically challenged adults with daily and lifetime activities.
Gina loved art, travel, and combining the two. She cherished memories of visiting museums such as the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay & the Uffizi while on trips to Germany with Ma’am to see her Uncle Bud, and to France, & Italy. She loved snow skiing, beaches, tubing the Guadalupe, and music but mostly she loved her children. Gina married James Mandell Jr on the slopes of Taos, NM in 1998. They have two children, James “Jay” Richard Mandell III and Isabella Amelia Mandell. Gina loved taking them to museums, butterfly exhibits, zoo’s and the Texas hill country. She loves them to the moon and back.
Gina is proceeded in death by her grandparents Avis and Wayne Maitland, parents Cynthia & Jess, siblings Pete Hubbard, Margaret Hubbard, Uncle Jeffery Maitland, Aunt Carol & Uncle Frank Allen, dearest Tamera Thacker & her children Wayne & Casey. She is survived by her husband James, son Jay, daughter Bella, Uncle Alan “Bud” & wife Elaine Maitland, Uncle David Maitland, Cousin Shirley Howard, brother William & wife April Hubbard, sister-in-law Alicia Hubbard, dear friend ‘sister’ Kimberly Duke, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Gina will be laid to rest in Helpenstell Cemetery, 1107 County Road 146 (off Camp Tonkawa Rd) Nacogdoches, TX 75965 on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00PM.
A Memorial Service will be held in Houston, Texas on a later date.
