Graveside service for Paul Daniel Brittain, 54, of Cedar Park, will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Cold Springs Cemetery, with Bro. Ben Richardson officiating.
Paul claimed victory over sickness and suffering this week, on August 3rd, after a courageous 12‑year battle with cancer. Reunited with his beloved grandparents in Heaven, he leaves behind his mom and dad, Karen and Dan Brittain, and brothers, David and Stephen, heartbroken but eternally grateful to God for the blessing of Paul's life. Paul is survived also by sisters-in-law, Diana (David) and Debbie (Stephen), nieces and nephews, Shelby, Lilly, Luke and Caleb Brittain, aunts Betty Brittain, Diane Anderson and Katherine Perry, an uncle, C. W. Perry, many cousins, and friends too numerous to mention, including, in particular, his caring and supportive colleagues of nearly twenty years at Premier Research in Austin, with whom he collaborated in the organization and supervision of numerous clinical trials of newly developed drugs seeking FDA approval for the treatment of a variety of serious illnesses. Special and heartfelt thanks go out to Paul's tireless and selfless caregiver, Cathy Grant, and to Abram Gonzalez, a friend whose willingness to do for Paul has known no limits. Paul was born March 29, 1967, in Houston but, from about age six, grew up in Dallas following the family's return to Texas from the New York City area. After graduating from Richardson High School in 1985, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia in 1989, and a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 1997, Magna Cum Laude, where he was named Outstanding Graduate Student in the Master of Public Health program for the academic year 1995-1996. At Paul's request, he is being laid to rest in Cold Springs Cemetery next to his grandparents, Helen and Z. F. Brittain, two of his four cherished grandparents. A memorial service will be scheduled in Austin in the near future to celebrate Paul's life, details for which are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, in honor of Dr. Kanwal P. S. Raghav, or Baylor Scott & White North Texas Colon and Rectal Associates–Dallas, in honor of Dr. Warren E. Lichliter, or the charity of your choice.
