Nannette Collins passed away peacefully on May 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born May 15, 1936, to George and Dorothy Tinkle at their home in Garrison, Texas.  Nannette graduated from Garrison High School in 1954 and attended Lon Morris College and Stephen F. Austin State University.

Nannette was active in the Garrison community for over 60 years where she had many dear friends.  She was co-owner of Tinkle Brothers Department store where she worked for over 40 years.  She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Garrison and was a member of the choir where she regularly sang solos including her traditional favorite at Christmas, “O Holy Night”.

She enjoyed visiting with friends and customers at Tinkles and taking care of the family businesses and properties.   She especially enjoyed taking care of her family and was an exceptional wife and mother to her husband and sons.  She had a wonderful personality and was the nicest, kindest person anyone could ever know.  She loved music and singing in the church choir, cooking in her kitchen, holiday get-togethers and spending time with her family.

Nannette married Thomas D. Collins, Jr. on October 23, 1955.  They shared 65 years together prior to his death in 2021.  Together they have two sons, Ron and wife Nancy of Nacogdoches, Texas and Stan and wife Beth of San Augustine, Texas.  Nannette also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Lindsay Ferrell and husband Darrek, Matthew Collins, Zachary Collins and wife Jessica, Andrew Collins and great grandchildren Violet Collins and Harrison Ferrell. In addition to her sons and their families, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Frances Bailey and husband Paul, Jane Kimbro and husband Joe, and many nieces and nephews.

Nannette was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Collins, Jr., parents, George and Dorothy Tinkle, and father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Ruth Collins, Sr.

Nannette’s family extends a special thanks to Dr. Mark Cline, Dr. Eric Cline, Dr. C. Fagg Sanford, Dr. Tony Thompson, Dr. Lloyd Whitley, Dr. Blaise Ferraraccio, Dr. John Nguyen, Dr. Shanmugan Uthamalingam and all the caring nurses and warm staff at Nacogdoches Medical Center, especially those in its Intensive Care Unit.  Special thanks also go out to caregivers Cynthia Holmes and Rhonda Henry and the nurses and staff at Garrison Nursing Home.
