Mike Melton

Mike Melton, 73, of Garrison, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in Garrison, Texas. Born November 26, 1946, in Houston, Texas, to the late A. D. Melton and Roberta Chandler Melton. Funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Garrison Funeral Home, 886 US Hwy 59, Garrison, Texas, with Bro Jerry Kirby and Larry Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Cold Springs Cemetery, FM 95N, Garrison, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on January 17, 2020 at Garrison Funeral Home.

Mike was raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated from C.E. King High School. He later served his country in the United States Army. Mike served during Vietnam. After serving in the military he moved to Garrison, Texas, making East Texas home. Mike was self-employed as a master plumber, serving many customers throughout the years in Garrison and surrounding counties. He met the love of his life, Phyllis Williams, in Garrison, and the two were married February 2, 1990. Although times were not always easy they have spent over 29 years together, making lots of memories. Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed riding the golf cart in the pasture searching for deer tracks. He was a loving husband, brother, father, and pawpaw. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family. Mike was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by loving wife, Phyllis Melton of Garrison, Texas; daughter, Michelle Matlock and husband Jimmy of Garrison, Texas; son, Wade Collins and wife Kristin of Garrison, Texas; grandchildren, Jami Harvin and husband Matt of Garrison, Texas, Tanner Matlock and fiancé Bailee of Garrison, Texas, Taylor Swann of Mt. Enterprise, Coltin Collins and fiancé Faith of Mt. Enterprise, Texas, Harley Collins and Kinzie Collins of Garrison, Texas; great granddaughter, Lilly Harvin; nephews, Kevin Melton and wife Nicole, Keith Melton and wife Megan; special cousin, Rusty Melton and wife Patsy; loving dogs, Lucy and Dixie; and a host of friends and family that will miss him dearly.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Roberta Melton; brothers, Jack Melton and Lloyd Melton.

Pallbearers serving will be Lance Bernard, Brad Honea, Matt Holloway, Pete Stokes, Kevin Melton, Phillip Melton, and Kyle Brasher.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tanner Matlock, Coltin Collins, Harley Collins, Matt Harvin, Andy Newell, Colby Machaud, and Keith Melton.

In lieu of flowers family requests memorial donations be made to Cold Springs Baptist Church.
