Mary Lynn (Porter) Lutes

Funeral service for Mary Lynn Porter Lutes, 74, of Garrison, will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Garrison Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 10:00am.

Mary was born in Henderson, Tx to Oscar Lennard and Opal (Moore) Porter. After spending her childhood in Gary and during her tenure at Panola College, she met the love of her life, Frank Lutes. They were married on July 9, 1977 and together, they raised their sons and watched as they grew into great young men.  Mary was so very proud of them.

She was a hard working and dedicated woman.  She worked as an assembler at Sunbeam in Nacogdoches, was a seamstress at Foretravel and a fabric specialist at Hobby Lobby.  She met many people during her working years and formed lasting friendships with them. 

Although she worked most of her life, her dedication was to Jesus Christ and her family.  She took care of many generations of children in the nursery at First Baptist Church.  Beyond her dedication to Christ and family, she also spent her time reading, gardening, sewing, watching crime investigation shows and loving on her dog.

Mrs. Lutes is survived by her husband of 46 years, Frank Aubrey Lutes and her sons, Brad Lutes & wife, Beth and Mark Lutes.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leo Porter and his wife, Pebble.
