Joseph Daniel Hickman, 41, formerly of Garrison, passed away on January 13, 2022 in The Woodlands.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
Joseph Hickman was born on March 24, 1980 in Winnie, Texas. He grew up as any boy did, learning to love being outside. His adoptive parents, James and Mylia, welcomed him with open arms at the age of 6 and taught him as much as possible about how to take care of himself and to put others first. They attended church regularly and Joseph took every opportunity he could to be outside. As he grew into his teenage years, he also learned how to drive, and just as all teenage boys do, he drove fast! Joseph was a graduate of Garrison High School and spent many days and evenings with the friends he made through the years as a Garrison Bulldog. He was very talented with most any instrument he picked up and magically could play “by ear”. His love of being outdoors surpassed any other thing he did and it was always his job to get on the tractor and bail the hay. After high school, he was blessed with the birth of his two boys, Jayson and Skylar. This was something he talked about regularly and he loved them. The choices Joseph made in life drove him far from his family and he most recently settled in the Conroe area. His sudden passing, although hard for family members and friends to wrap their mind around after his absence, will always bring up the memories from his younger years and the sweetness they knew was in his heart. His infectious smile as a youngster will continue to be a permanent memory in the hearts and minds of those who loved him the most.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, James and Mylia Hickman; son, Skylar Hickman; brothers, Justin Hickman and Kevin Strawbridge & wife, Mammie; sisters, Heather West & husband, Troy, Heagan Bass & husband, Derick, Courtney Gilooley & husband, Mike, Rachel Davis and Brittany Puchot & husband, Drew. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other family members and friends who will surely feel a void knowing he is no longer here living his life.
Joseph is preceded in death by his son, Jayson Hickman.
