Janie Muckleroy Obituary

Janie Muckleroy, 71, of Timpson, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020, in Tyler, TX. She was born September 4, 1948, in Timpson, TX to the late Bill Adkinson and Ozell Pollard Adkinson. Memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3732 NE Stallings Dr, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Janie grew up in Garrison, Texas. She attended Garrison High School, where she met the love of her life, George Muckleroy. They were married in Center, Texas on August 8, 1965 and were married for 55 years before her passing. George and Janie raised their three children with love and care. Instilling in them a love of God and caring for others. Janie enjoyed watching their children and eventually their grandchildren play in sporting events. Nanny, as the grandchildren called her, was there to support them and cheer them on. Janie had a love of sewing, cooking for her family, and baking. She was known for her delicious red velvet cake and yummy cinnamon rolls. Janie was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and nursery worker for many years. She also worked as chaplain for Market Place Ministries. Janie’s favorite scripture was Philippians 1:20-21. She was a faithful servant of God and lived out Proverbs 31 every day. She was a true example of a virtuous woman. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George; sons, Wade Muckleroy and wife Jana, and Todd Muckleroy; daughter, Georgette Freeman and husband Chris; grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Maci Strahan, Chandler Muckleroy, Katee McKnight and husband Carson; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Buddy Adkinson and wife Judy, Ronnie Adkinson and wife Leslie; sisters, Gayle Adkinson, Judy Stokes and husband Jessie; and a host of family and friends.

Janie is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Mike “Cotton” Adkinson.
