Gus Sherwood Waits

Gus Sherwood Waits, 81, of Cuney, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Jacksonville, Texas. Born January 6, 1938, in Rayville, Louisiana, to the late Gus Waits and Essie Lee (Johnston)Waits. Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Cold Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Gerald Edwards officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1PM on December 14, 2019 at Cold Springs Baptist Church.

Gus grew up in Collinston, Louisiana. He graduated high school and later moved to Texas. He was employed for Brock Enterprises for over 40 years. Gus valued friendships made through the years working for this company. He married the love of his life, Sandra, on September 6, 1978, and the two spent over 40 wonderful years together before his passing. They raised two beautiful children, and although they endured many hardships through the years, they prospered immensely. Gus was a loving husband, father, and brother. He was a super hard worker that always strived to provide for his family. He enjoyed gardening with Sandra, many family vacations, and especially spending time with those he loved. His favorite past time was spent in Florida. He loved to vacation in Florida.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; son, Lance Tiner and wife Andrea; daughter, Angela Hesler and husband, John; sisters, Sarah Ann Hall, Evyette Muckleroy; grandchildren, Haley Tiner, Zachary Tiner, Blake Tiner, Taylor Mazoch, Hunter Hesler; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Essie Lee Johnston Waits.
