Obituary

Francis Irvin McGrath, Jr., 78, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2022, in Timpson, Texas. He was born on September 16, 1944, in Victoria, Texas to the late Francis, Sr. and Dorothy (Leonard) McGrath. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Garrison Funeral Home, officiated by Chaplain Steve Jackson. Interment will follow at Cold Springs Cemetery, Garrison, Texas.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Garrison Funeral Home.

 

Francis grew up in Victoria, Texas.  He joined the Marines right out of high school.  He served 4 years with the Marines and earned the rank of Corporal before his discharge.  Francis then went on to serve as a Game Warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife office in Corpus Christi, Texas where he met his wife, Jenna.  They were married in Denton, Texas on July 20, 1989.  Francis enjoyed shooting and reloading ammo and was a member of the National Rifle Association.  He also spent time bird watching and taking pictures of nature.  Francis was a collector of curios and relics.  He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

Francis is survived by his daughters, Frances Jean Mills and husband, Jon, and Charlotte Marion McGrath ; stepdaughters, Karen Marine Naylor, Mary Bess Snyder, Lori Ann Gonzalez, and Katrina Lynn Swinney; stepson, Michael Lee Naylor, Jr.; half-sister, Susan Overcash; half-brothers, Randy Roberts and wife, Debbie, and Mark McGrath; grandchildren, Bryan Matthew Mills, Keith Bradley Mills, Conner Walker, Rachelle Lea Klepac and husband, Brandon, Roxanne LaRae Cox and husband, Dennis, and Kenna Denise Naylor; great-grandchildren, Savannah Grace Lawson, Penny Gayle Cox, Shiloh DelRae Klepac, Cash Cotton Cox, Cheyanne Lillian Klepac, Waylon West Cox, and Elvis Champ Cox; his beloved dog, Maggie Mae McGrath; and his caregiver, Melisa Gibbo; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Lydia Leonard; parents, Francis McGrath, Sr. and Dorothy (Leonard) McGrath Roberts; wife, Jenna McGrath; and stepson, Gary Davis.

Serving as pallbearers are Jon Mills, Keith Mills, Bryan Mills, Gary Corley, Mike Naylor, and E.J. McHenry.
