Bill Stanaland Obituary

Funeral services for Bill Stanaland, 91, of Garrison will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Bro. Shak Arrington officiating.

Mr. Bill Stanaland was born to Lawson Stanaland and Ella "Covin" Stanaland on October 15, 1930. He spent his life in Garrison and made his life there helping locals with his local flooring business and improving the community by being in local committees. Bill loved the outdoors and was known to sit just to listen to the wind blow through the trees and watch the clouds glide across the sky. Bill would give any excuse to be outside more often. Although being outdoors was important to Bill, the most important part of his life was his family. He spent all the time he could teaching them life lessons and establishing a good future for them. He was not only a good father, and grandfather, he was fun to be around, and everyone looked forward to spending time him. He served in the United States Army and made an influence in many of his family serving as well. Bill was known as the "Oldest Living Stanaland" among his immediate family and that name is a true testament to his wisdom, and ability.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Bennie Jean Hartt Stanaland; children, Kathryn Katzenberger, Morris Neal (Jayne) Stanaland and Sam (Donna) Stanaland; Grandchildren, Bobby Katzenberger, Jeremy Katzenberger, Christopher Katzenberger, Ashley Canty, Austin Stanaland, Emily Jones, Logan Stanaland, and Travis Stanaland; Great-Grandchildren, Conner Katzenberger, Jaxon Katzenberger, Eli Katzenberger, Aria Katzenberger, Merit Jones, Eva Jones and Jodie Stanaland.

He is preceded in death by son, George Donald Stanaland; and parents, Lawson and Ella Stanaland.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Katzenberger, Kris Katzenberger, Logan Stanaland, Travis Stanaland, Drew Canty, and Taylor Jones. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Austin Stanaland, and Bobby Katzenberger.

Special thanks to Garrison Nursing Home and Harbour Hospice for providing wonderful and loving care.
