Betty Joyce (Weatherly) Young

Betty Weatherly Young, 88, of Garrison, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2022, in Cleveland, Texas. She was born on August 27, 1933, in Tyler, Texas to the late Sam and Clemmie Mae (Tarver) Weatherly. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Garrison Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Cathedral of the Pines Cemetery in Tyler, Texas.

Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Garrison Funeral Home.

Betty grew up in Tyler and Nacogdoches areas.  She was a nurse for many years.  Betty met her husband, James, at Springs of Living Water Church.  The two were soon married on December 6, 1997.  Betty and James enjoyed 24 years of marriage before her passing.  Betty loved life and was a very outgoing person.  She loved fishing off the dock at the lake.  Betty enjoyed many shopping trips with her friend, LaDonna Gibbo.  Betty and James were members of Highway Tabernacle in Timpson, Texas.  They enjoyed going to church singings and worshiping together.  “Aunt Betty” will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Betty is survived by her husband, James Young; stepson, Jimmy Young and wife, Teressa; sister, Margaret Spivey; step-grandchild, Savannah Murphy and husband, Justin; step-great-great grandchild, Jackson Murphy; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Clemmie Mae Weatherly; stepdaughter, Callie Young; sisters, Billie Jean, Jewel, and Catherine; brothers, Bobby, Preston, Jack, Huey, and Hubert.

Serving as pallbearers are Scott Spivey, Lucas Spivey, Fred Spivey, Jason Spivey, Robbie Spivey, and Mike Ellis.  Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Young and Garry Weatherly.
