A Celebration of Life for Garland Harrell Stewart, 88, of Nacogdoches will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Brileytown Baptist Church in Garrison.
Mr. Stewart passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in Nacogdoches. He was born on December 13, 1935 to General Gabe Stewart and Hazel Cook Stewart.
Harrell worked as a truck driver for Lone Star Feed & Fertilizer as well as in the feedmill for Pilgrim’s Pride. He was a chicken farmer for many years. Later in his life, he found great joy while puttering around in his garden or making crosses in his shed. He was especially fond of making crosses that he would give to his loved ones.
Harrell is survived by his wife, Cheryl Stewart; son, Don Stewart; daughter, Judy Crocker; grandchildren, Jason Stewart & wife, Jaclyn and Carla Moreau; great grandchildren, Jackson Stewart, Bailey Adams and Tayler Stewart; step daughter, Kelly Futch; step-grandsons, Kyle Futch & wife, Anya and Clay Futch & wife, Halee; step-great grandchildren, Stryder and Tucker Futch; brother, Gary Stewart & wife, Wanda; sisters, Naomi Steinmetz, Becky Quinn & husband, Lloyd, Geneva Jones, Dian Hughes & husband, Ronny and Deb Moore & husband, Weldon; sister-in-law, Jo Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle “Toofy”.
Harrell was preceded in death by his parents; first wife & mother of his children, Louise Holloway Stewart; brothers, Donald Stewart and O’Neal Stewart; brothers-in-law, Gerald Steinmetz and Monroe Jones and step-son, Kurt Bluhm.
Harrell will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
